Lisa Fasullo, MetLife Fellow

lisa-fasulloLisa Fasullo is experienced at teaching first, second, and third grade in Title One schools.

After seven years as a classroom teacher, she moved to teach English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) at an elementary school outside Washington, D.C.

Lisa is a Teach For America and Peace Corps alum.

She earned her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Human Resources from Marymount University.

Research Title: Is Lesson Study an effective form of Staff Development? Research Year: 2009 Research Classification: Professional Development Research Summary: Completed 2 cycle of Lesson Study–Dec 2008 and Mar 2009–focused on Math Lesson study steps: Study, Plan, Conduct Lesson & Collect Data, Reflect 1st cycle–number sense 2nd cycle–2 digit addition All teacher participants changed teaching and planning approach as a result of the Lesson Study.

Research Title: Literacy Circles in Primary Title One Schools Research Year: 2007 Research Classification: Curriculum Development,Student Support/Enrichment Research Summary: Literacy Circles in Primary Grades: A review and implementation of Literacy Circles in two 2nd grade classes of a Title One elementary school. The subjects included students in general education made up of 80% English and a Second Language learners. Special education was inclusive. Using the techniques of Harvey Daniels (2002) on leveled small groups, data was taken and used to create best practices for this population. This ongoing study will be continued next year when our findings will be presented.
