Laura Hibdon, MetLife Fellow

Laura_HibdonLaura Hibdon teaches at a PreK-5 school in northern Virginia.  She splits her time between teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and managing the school’s Parent Center.

Laura earned her Bachelor of Science from University of Wisconsin and her Master of Education in TESOL form the University of Guam.

She has worked as an educator in Wisconsin, Guam and Germany.

Laura’s current assignment as a Family Involvement Resource Teacher at a Title 1 public elementary give her a unique perspective on building relationship between school and parents.

Research Title: Volunteering in the Parent Center Research Year: 2007 Research Classification: Support Services to Schools Research Summary: This study was conducted from November 2006 though June 2007 and is continuing. Volunteers were tracked at a Title One public elementary school outside Washington, D.C.
