Previous Research Includes:

Research Title: Language Arts Workshop Share Research Year: 2009 Research Classification: Student Support/Enrichment Research Summary: We began investigating our reading and writing workshop share. We felt, after studying other aspects of our workshops, it was an area of need for us. We began by reading professional books, especially Don’t Forget to Share! by Leah Mermelstein, about share and analyzing the types of share going on in our classrooms. In the future we plan to look at the types of shares and how they facilitate different types of learning for our students and reflection on their lives as readers and writers.

Research Title: Effective Reading Conferences Research Year: 2008 Research Classification: Curriculum Development Research Summary: In order to strengthen our teaching and assessing of reading, we decided to focus on the weakest area of our reading block – reading conferences. We spent the year researching and deconstructing our reading conferences. By taping our conferences, we were able to notice patterns and trends and synthesize our thinking on our wiki. The research will continue next year.
