Frances Lieb, MetLife Fellow

Fracis_LiebFrances Lieb attended The College of William and Mary where she earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education.

She taught high school English in Virginia Beach City Schools and Prince William County Schools.

Frances then taught English in the Fairfax County Adult Education program.

Currently she is in her 21st year of working as an Elementary School Counselor in a public school system in northern Virginia.

Current Research:

Research Title: Picture Your Child Here Research Year: 2008-2009 Research Classification: Student Support/Enrichment Research Summary: A sampling of 10 students who have chronic problems with tardiness were meeting in small groups to discuss strategies for getting to school on time. This project is creating a video called “The First 10 Minutes” to send home to parents which shows the activities that that the students are missing when they are tardy.  This research hypothesizes the use of small group support and education of parents will reduce tardy instances in this sampling of students.

Research Title: Improving the Respect that Students Show for Each Other in School Research Year: 2007 Research Classification: Student Support/Enrichment Research Summary: Student surveys given at the end of the year have shown that the majority of students respond “maybe” to the statement, “Most students in my school respect each other.” This project developed methods for promoting more respectful behavior among studentsl.
